Sailor Martinez Car Accident: Four Lives, Including 10-Year-Old Girl Lost in Tragic Rollover Crash on I-40

Sailor Martinez Barstow, CA Obituary – A devastating rollover crash on Interstate 40 near Hector Road claimed the lives of four individuals early Sunday morning, May 4, 2025.

Among the victims was 10-year-old Sailor A. Martinez of Barstow, a former Miss Barstow Little Division Pageant contestant, remembered for her bright spirit and involvement in community events.

The solo-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. in the unincorporated desert region of San Bernardino County. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Barstow Area responded to the scene, where they found a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck had veered off the westbound lanes, entered the dirt shoulder, and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop.

Tragically, all four occupants—one adult male and three juveniles—were pronounced dead at the scene. The adult driver, identified only as a 35-year-old man from Yermo, has not had his relationship to the children publicly confirmed.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office later identified one of the juvenile victims as Sailor Martinez, whose passing has left the local community in mourning. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including possible contributing factors such as speed, road conditions, or mechanical failure.

The CHP has stated that neither alcohol nor drugs is currently suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. However, the investigation remains ongoing.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life,” said CHP Barstow Area Lieutenant Adam Carmichall in a statement. “We extend our sincerest condolences to the families affected by this horrific event. This tragedy is a sobering reminder of the importance of roadway safety.”
