Oulton Park Crash – A tragic accident unfolded during the British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park in Cheshire, claiming the lives of Owen Jenner, 21, and Shane Richardson, 29.
The devastating 11-bike crash occurred at Turn 1, Old Hall Corner, on the opening lap of the race, leading to immediate medical intervention.
Jenner suffered a catastrophic head injury and was treated trackside before being transported to the circuit medical center, where he succumbed to his injuries despite resuscitation efforts. Richardson sustained severe chest injuries and was initially treated at the scene before being transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he died before arrival.
Another rider, Tom Tunstall, 47, was also seriously injured, suffering back and abdominal injuries. He was taken to the hospital for further treatment. Five additional riders—Carl Harris, Max Morgan, Cameron Hall, Freddie Barnes, and Morgan McLaren-Wood—were treated for minor injuries at the circuit medical center, while three others escaped unharmed
Due to the severity of the crash, the remainder of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship event was canceled. The Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board and MotorSport Vision Racing are investigating the Coroner and Cheshire Constabulary to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In response to the tragedy, MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), the series organizer, released a statement confirming the fatal outcomes and expressing their deep sorrow.
“Due to the extreme severity of the incident and ongoing medical intervention, the remainder of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship event was cancelled. This catastrophic accident has tragically resulted in two riders being fatally injured, and another sustaining significant injuries,” the statement read.
