The Lindsay community is mourning the unexpected passing of Linden Mackey, the dedicated and compassionate owner of Mackey Funeral Home Inc. A pillar of support to countless families through their darkest moments, Linden died unexpectedly this week, leaving behind his heartbroken wife, Stephanie Mackey, and a community reeling with grief.
Linden was more than a funeral home director. He was the third generation of the Mackey family to serve Lindsay through Mackey Funeral Home, a legacy passed down from his father and grandfather. He carried that responsibility with profound humility, grace, and quiet strength, becoming the heart and soul of a business built on care, trust, and compassion.
“Linden never sought the spotlight—his kindness spoke for itself,” the Mackey Funeral Home shared in a heartfelt tribute. “He was generous to a fault, always putting others before himself. He served families with deep empathy, honoring their loved ones with dignity and respect.”
Linden and his wife, Stephanie, were married for 24 years, forming a loving partnership in life and service to the community. Stephanie now mourns the loss of a devoted husband, steadfast friend, and extraordinary human being.
Linden’s presence was felt far beyond the walls of the funeral home. In Lindsay’s downtown, he was a familiar face—always warm and welcoming. He supported local businesses, mentored young professionals, and uplifted others with small acts of kindness that often went unspoken but were never unnoticed.
“Linden’s contributions to our community have been immeasurable,” said a post from Lindsay Downtown. “He operated his businesses with compassion, supporting so many of us in our most difficult times. His absence will be deeply felt.”
Tributes have poured in from all corners of the community—including from the teams at Mackey Funeral Home, Stoddart’s Funeral Home and Celebrations Lindsay, and the Lindsay Dance Studio family—each expressing profound sorrow and gratitude for the life Linden lived.
As the community gathers to grieve, they also celebrate the legacy Linden leaves behind: one of service, humility, integrity, and enduring love.
“Life is sweet because of the friends we have made,” Linden once said.
Let us honor his memory by living with that same quiet kindness, by showing up for one another in moments of need, and by carrying forward the spirit of generosity that Linden gave so freely.
Funeral arrangements and memorial details will be shared by the Mackey family in the coming days.
